NEW DOWNTOWN BANNERS
Banners are an essential part of any downtown’s marketing plan, and it was definately time for a refresh! When DDA staff approached this project, beginning in 2021, they wanted to feature photos and experiences that are unique and loved by everyone in our community. The 250 downtown banners, which were installed in the Spring of 2022, are broken out into 6 categories:
- Drinks & Beverages
- Food & Dining
- History & Art
- Things to do
- Events & Entertainment
The photos selected highlight all that downtown has to offer, and encourage residents and visitors alike to discover new places downtown! May thanks to the Wyoming Business Council for providing funding for this project!
Many thanks to our partners and sponsors, who helped make this project possible!
‘CHEYENNE’ PLACEMAKING PROJECT
In the Spring of 2021 the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) had the opportunity to create a project that would not only benefit the downtown community, but the entire City of Cheyenne. Instead of executing the project in-house, the DDA decided to “go big or go home” and asked a few enthusiastic downtown professionals, residents and representatives of our community if they would be willing to form a committee to plan and execute the project in its entirety. In less than four months the committee members were able to develop a project that not only transformed an underwhelming area of downtown Cheyenne, but also contributed to the community’s brand in a unique and impactful way.
Thanks to the work of our committee along with the generous support from our sponsors, what started out as a small idea has become a multiphase development project. As the first phase installment of the overall project, this CHEYENNE sign highlights just a few things that make our Capitol City one of a kind. We hope you take the time to explore our community and experience everything it has to offer. Welcome to Cheyenne – there’s more here than meets the eye.
The Downtown Cheyenne Wayfinding project includes the complete development, implementation, and deployment of both an iOS and Android mobile wayfinding app to mazimize accessibility and reach, connecting visitors and locals with commercial and cultural opportunities. This app will integrate with existing software utilized by our partner organizations.
Wayfinding is defined as the ways people orient themselves in physical space and navigate from place to place. The app will include:
- Real-time GPS navigation and mapping components, allowing users to easily navigate and explore
- A business directory, sortable by category
- A digital calendar promoting events across all of Laramie County
- Access to digital coupons specific to downtown businesses
- A mobile public art map, pinpointing locations of all public art including murals, boots, bronzes and kinetic art
- Various tours and ways to explore our community
The Wayfinding app is anticipated to be completed in full in early 2023!
