Downtown Cheyenne alleyway clean up before and after

Working Together on Downtown Improvements

Since moving under Community Recreation & Events (CRE) in August, the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is working to make regular walking tours a part of its ongoing efforts in downtown Cheyenne. These walkthroughs give DDA staff opportunities to work alongside other CRE team members to identify conditions, discuss priorities, and determine where attention is needed throughout the District.

During these tours, staff have identified cracked sidewalks and curbs, bike racks in need of repainting, and other items requiring attention. Work is underway in collaboration with the Clean & Safe team to address identified needs and inform both immediate efforts and longer-term priorities.

The Clean & Safe team has also begun cleaning downtown alleyways. The work includes sweeping and blowing out dirt and debris, collecting trash, and power washing alley surfaces. The first cleanup focused on the alley bounded by Carey Avenue, Capitol Avenue, Lincolnway, and 17th Street. The DDA is helping with pre-cleanup efforts and supply purchases for these initiatives.

Regular walkthroughs and cleanup efforts provide opportunities to identify maintenance needs and make improvements throughout downtown Cheyenne. Additional alleyway cleanups are anticipated as this work continues.
