Design
COMMITTEE
MEETS MONTHLY
The goal of the Design Committee is to help support the implementation of façade and streetscape projects that enhance downtown.
Design means getting downtown into top physical shape and creating an inviting, historic district that entices shoppers, workers, and visitors.
Visual components such as buildings, storefronts, signage, public space, parking areas, public art, landscaping, street décor, pedestrian amenities, window displays, and promotional materials all contribute to the design of downtown. An appealing atmosphere conveys a positive message about the downtown and what it has to offer.

MEETS MONTHLY
As a development authority, we undertake a wide variety of downtown projects. Although some of these projects are of limited scope and duration, they may need the expertise of a specially-assembled committee. In these cases, we assemble an ad hoc project-specific committee to help move the initiative forward. Once the project is complete, the committee is disbanded. This type of flexibility provides “on demand” access to downtown experts who can provide project-specific support.
Success can be achieved through creative reuse of historic properties. Converting unused or underused commercial space into economically productive property also helps boost the profitability of the district. The goal is to build a downtown that responds to the needs of our community while maintaining the community’s historic character.
