About the 15th Street Experience
The 15th Street Experience is a placemaking and infrastructure initiative designed to transform 15th Street, from Capitol Avenue to Bent Avenue, into a more walkable and welcoming downtown destination. The project will incorporate historic rail cars and rail-themed elements as functional and interpretive features that reflect Cheyenne’s railroad heritage.
The project is intended to complement both the Reed Avenue Corridor Plan and the West Edge Area-Wide Plan (PDF). It will help strengthen the connection between the Reed Avenue improvements and the downtown core while introducing enhanced lighting, landscaping, and streetscape improvements between the Depot and Bent Avenue.
In addition to supporting economic development through placemaking, adaptive reuse opportunities, and public gathering spaces, the project is intended to:
- Enhance pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle circulation
- Maintain and optimize parking access
- Improve corridor safety and aesthetics through streetscape enhancements, lighting, and fencing
- Strengthen physical and visual connections between downtown destinations and multimodal transportation systems
