About the 1600 Block Alley Enhancements
The 1600 Block Alley Enhancements project is a long-standing Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) initiative focused on improving safety, cleanliness, and the pedestrian experience in Downtown Cheyenne alleys north of 16th Street.
The effort stems from a 2017 DDA feasibility study that identified alley enhancements and undergrounding utilities as key opportunities to improve downtown functionality, aesthetics, and sense of place while maintaining service access.
The project scope includes:
- Removal of overhead power lines
- Consolidated trash and waste areas
- New lighting (pole lights and limited overhead lighting)
- Landscaping, seating, and murals
Current Project Status
At present, the project is at a decision point regarding scope, timing, funding, and coordination with the City of Cheyenne’s alley work.
